Cecil continues to scribble in his journal, glancing up at the conversation occasionally.

Seamus is soon finished with his notes, having pretty much disregarded the idea of using plants for high-altitude journeys after Hans's point. After placing said noted on Divah's desk, he goes to put his maps away. On his way across the library, he passes the reporter and notices him scribbling notes and looking over at the other researchers. He decides to confront the reporter directly.
"That's odd, writing notes without any source material... Of course, you could be transferring information from memory, but a good reporter always keeps his notebook with him, to jot things down on the fly... Unless you are recording our conversation, which would mean, were you on my ship, you would be breaching rule two of my personal code of conduct, a rule that has very severe consequences..."
He holds out his hand, gesturing for the reporter to give him the book.

Cecil passes Seamus the open notebook. Seen upon the page is a mixture of odd pictures and symbols, with strange text transcribed by each one.
"I was merely working on my shorthand to add some appropriate phrases before the Homage, Captain, and keeping an eye on your friends. I remember what happened at the Chapel and I would regret any such... altercations occuring here, as I am a patron of this library whenever I visit Tion, and I've grown fond of the atmosphere."

"But I am still concerned that you may be eavesdropping, as I cannot read your shorthand so cannot truly know whether or not you speak truth. If these are just meaningless ramblings to practice, then I'm sure you won't mind me doing this..."
Seamus holds the book in one hand and with the other tears out the latest page of the notebook. He crinkles up and pockets the paper, then hands the book back to the reporter.
"Now, if you would be so polite as to move further away from our studies, I believe most of us would be very grateful."
The captain stands aside to allow Cecil some room to get up.

Hans smirks at the Captain's activities and returns to research.

"If it's all the same to you Divah, I think i'm going to work on some personal stuff simultaneously. I have some upgrades in mind for the Rescue."

"I was preparing new shorthand for the topics likely to occur at the Homage, and would have been happy to show the decoding method for the translations, but it is too late. As you wish, I shall leave."
Cecil gathers up his belongings and moves to a seat in a small nook, further away from the conversation.

Seamus speaks to Cecil as he moves away.
"I am sorry if I have hindered your practice, but you must understand that I have to put these suspicions to rest before someone else gets violent over them. You weren't around to see what happened over a paper toss a minute ago..."
He starts to head back to the research group, but after afew steps he turns his head and calls back.
"If you want, I could buy you a pint or two at the Xenu next time you're in there, to put aside any hard feelings. Do you drink, Cedric, was it? I'm sorry, but I was rather hungover when you first introduced yourself..."

"Cecil. A drink at the Xenu sounds great. No hard feelings about the notes, by the way, I have an excellent memory so can remember most of them."

Seamus pulls out his timepiece from one of his many pockets and checks the time.
"Well, it's getting late, and I'm pretty much done with research for the day, so I'll head over there now and grab a few pints beforehand."
He turns and calls over to the other researchers.
"I'm heading down to the Xenu, first round is on me!"
Then, without looking to see if anyone's following him, the captain swiftly leaves the library.

Hans watches him leave, turning to the others.

"He realises that ALL rounds are on the Guild, right?"

He flips open a tome on the tactical uses of gunpowder and reads.

"ANNNNNNNNNND BINGO!"

Hans, excited, jumps up reading a book allowed.

"'Following this experiment, the Engineers working within the confines of reason found that this new fuel was cleaner and more productive than the usual commonly used one'... If we can use a new fuel, we won't have to pay so much for the mass production batch, the fact that this is relatively unknown is a surprise... hmmm..."

He sits again, reading over.

"Problem is, an extensive amount of heat is needed. Mages are a solution, but they only have so much mana... and I only know one capable of elemental magic... tutti..."

(OOC: I'm assuming we've finished on that day, so I'm moving this to after Sangterre.)

Hans walked into the familiar old library. The Librarian looked up, acknowledging the relatively new Seeker and returning to whatever it was Librarians did at their desks. Hans was fiddling with the odd and very old-looking ring on his finger, the gem seemingly pulsing lightly with a slight red glow. Hans moved to the History section, selecting books on Lanet that seemed to involve rings. Oddly, he seemed a little more jumpy than usual, glancing over his shoulder every few seconds as he aquired the books. Finally getting all he could carry, he moved to the nearest free table, set out tha books over it and started reading.

Crash! Leif stumbles into the library, swinging the door back to see Hans studying some paper. The Librarian looks up and gives a deadly stare.
"Is this the Lirb...Libruauar...is this the book forest?"
The Librarian looks down again and continues scribbling with a feather.
"I'm looking for Divah."
The Librarian ignores him.
"I...see" Leif leaves him to his pointless mess, on the paper.
Trying to ignore his pounding head, he moves further into the Library. Looking around the waste of wood the elves so much revered.
He moves around a corner to find devastation in the "Ancient Lanetian Enchanted Jewelry" section.

Blood covers the ancient useless tomes with mead bottles strewn all over the shelves. A small pile of books on the histories of Lanetian Royal necklaces lay in a mixture of mead and what smells suspiciously like urine.
A torn page is pinned to the wall by an Elven Dagger he does not recognise.

He strains his eyes to read the note scrawled in a clumsy childish hand.

Modnote: if you weren't stopped by the guards and set in civil custody for a few days when you tried to do that.

TIMEWARP

Hans strides in full of purpose and walks up to the Librarian, placing his hands on his desk.

"I need everything you have on Vampires. All of it. Even the fiction."

The Librarian peers at the Seeker, over his half moon spectacles. "Vampires?"
He looks as if he has something to say, and then seems to change his mind.
"Hmm. You're best looking in the shelves at the end of the 3rd row."
There is a lazy wave in the right direction.
Then the old man goes back to sorting papers.

The section is helpfully labelled: "V".
Or at least, you think it is. The lettering is worn and faded. Much like the books down here.
Typically on the bottom shelf, where it is most awkward to browse, and most easily overlooked.
There are a handful of faded leather bound tomes, and several sheaves of papers.

"Ah, Hans- Ay knuw yu were an edhukated man."

Hans blinks, thinking he may have heard incorrectly. Turning his head proved him wrong, however.

"Ah."

He clears a space for the woman and politely motions for her to have a seat.

"I didn't expect to see you again so... soon. Especially not here."

His eyes check for other patrons. Finding none, he breathes slightly easier, but remains attentive.

She bows, ever so slightly, and accepts the offer.
Sitting across she looks at him through red glass lenses.
"Yu seem nurvoss, iz somethingh dhe mattrr?"

"While I've no personal resentment for members of the Undead, others have... harsher views. You getting spotted as a nightwalker might complicate matters. I was making sure we were alone."

He closes the book he was reading and pushes it away, making no attempt to hide its title.

"So what, might I ask, are you doing in Tion? Oh, and hello."

He regards her warmly but carefully, offering a polite smile.

"Ay am touched dhat yu would concern yurself widh dhis. Du noht worry. Ay haf- tayken kare of eet."
She settles, and removes her hat and glasses.
"Vampirs: Dhe Orijin? Du yu du yur homework on me?"
