"Need anything about plantlife and geography? I've seen many different maps that show how the Great Forests have changed over time."
He scurries over to the map archive, pulling scrolls from familiar slots. He takes the seat next to Hans, unravels a couple and and points at some lines.
"You see, in this older map the oak/fir treelines are here but in the newer one they are here, showing the changing border between Dar'Revan and Dar'Ethendiir. It would be interesting to see why this happens. I also noted the irregular way the path of the river in this part changes, I suspect it may be down to the dense plantlife. What do you think Divah? Could plants change the way a river flows?"
He looks to the green-clad elf, waiting for a response.

Divah blinked unbelievingly for a few seconds, considering whether he was being had-on for some sort of grander scheme, someone had killed Seamus and taken his place, or there was some sort of psychological issue with the Pirate Captain that had made him forget how he usually treated Divah.

"The ground drinks from the river... The plants drink from both if they are available... It makes sense..."

"You could have just asked my father to see them, we have the originals of all of his books. Have you read 'The history of the blade'? Father says that that's probably his best one he ever wrote." She sighs lightly "He died before he could finish it...anyway, tell me when you want to head off, I shant be much longer reading this" She taps the book she was reading to begin with 'The Lanetian Autumn, by Julia Le'Carte'.

"Aye, that makes sense. I must admit, I'm rather lacking in the herblore department. I know a tad about brewing, but that's only how to make things explode... To be honest, judging by the vast range of topics covered here, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a way to crew my ship better with plants!"
Seamus chuckles to himself lightly. He looks back at the druid.
"Is everything alright? You look like you've seen a ghost. Or worse, Hans's mother! Ha! Only kidding, only kidding, I've never met your mother, but I'm sure she's a kind and fair woman. Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, anything the matter, Divah?"

Johann pauses for a moment, and in his eyes one could see a new sense of purpose surge through him.

"Very well, I'll see you in a bit, when I'm done here."

Hans grins at the joke, though carefully concealing his own jokester nature

"My mother? Why captain, my own mother may not be on the best of looking sides, but I must ask, is it the fact that you have two mothers that turned you towards men as a comefort on those long, stormy nights? I have heard many tales from the crew regarding how... touchy-feely you can be..."

He peers over his book. his eyes crinkled in a smile as he watches the Captain

"Perhaps your usual attitude toward Divah is covering more... lustful feelings, hmm?"

Seamus stares at Hans blankly for a moment.
"What you just said makes absolutely no sense. Everyone in the library is now stupider for having heard it. I suggest you correct this by allowing us to go back to our research."
He goes back to his scrolls, then looks up once more.
"Oh, and while you're at it, look up the word 'idiot' in the dictionary. Do you know what you'll find?"

Hans stares at him blankly. Clearly unimpressed.

"The definition of idiot. Which you fucking are. We've all read that book, Captain. I'm slightly insulted that I'm serving under someone who plagarises insults so thoroughly. It's slightly, disconcerting."

He returns to his herblore book, ignoring the Captain's crappy insults.

Lydia smirks lightly, looking up from her book. "Actually, I did look in the dictionary. Your drawing was by the word 'idiot'. It was also by the word 'egotistical'...although, the Captain does look slightly...'queer'" She then goes back to reading her book, chuckling to herself lightly

Seamus looks at Hans in bewilderment, completely in awe at his first mate's inability to get a joke. Chuckling lightly at Lydia's remark, he goes back to his writings, making notes on which type of wood is best suited for ship-building.
"Are you familiar with the great ship buiders of Dar'Suliss, Divah? The way they shape the planks and logs is just masterful. I wish I had been around to see the Sea Eagle. I mean, before she sank. Who would've thought one pirate could take down a ship so grand..."

[OOC - Hence why I'm reading dumbass, and not actually commenting. Research means looking for stuff, not automatically knowing it and writing it down. Which I'm not. I already explained this.]

Hans sticks his tongue out at Lydia, throwing a rolled up scrap of paper at her as he turns to the Captain.

"I don't mean to be derogatory, it just irks me when insults are copied. Your mentioning of my mother WAS humourous though."

He scribbles something else down, frowning.

"Crap, this book contradicts the last one. Hey, Divah, apparently this plant He turns the book and points to a drawn picture can be used for both Healing and Poisoning. Or is this a different plant? Eugh, I need to learn more of this stuff."

"yes, yes, no, don't care, yes, maybe"

Divah was being drowned in people addressing him for questions, he rattled off a random series of answers that he wasn't quite sure made sense, before he returned to his work.

"Southern elves are dirty self-mutilators... Just sayin' "

Scratching his quill against paper with the odd diagram wasn't too hard from memory, but his limited knowledge was fast running out as he completed his pages, becoming ever slower with his work.

Johann takes the ball of paper in his hand, but does not look up from his work. He continues to read for a while longer, before rapidly raising his arm and sending the makeshift missile swifly into the centre of Hans' head.

"Trollseye."

He laughs a little, and then waits for a response.

"How about we settle this with a manly game of Rock Parchment Dagger, Hauldr?"

He places his left hand in front, already in rock position.

"Hans, put your pistol away, you're not impressing anyone. It'll most likely get angry and shoot the librarian. Anyway, come over here and look at this study from the College a few years back."
The captain points to an article in a large tome on the desk and begins to read aloud.
"In this experiment we placed a small mouse into a glass jar and sealed the top. After a short while, the mouse's breathing became laboured and it eventually suffocated. We then tried the same, but with a candle as well. The result of this second test was the same, only it happened a lot faster and the flame went out. For our final test we placed a mouse, a candle and a small plant in the jar. For 3 days the candle stayed lit (until it melted completely), the mouse lived and the plant did not wilt. On the third day we concluded that the plant was responsible for both keeping the mouse alive and the flame lit, leading us to believe that it produces 'good air' that allows living creatures to breathe."
He looks back at Hans and continues speaking.
"If this study is correct, we could use plants on the Rescue to allow for longer voyages at higher altitudes where the air is thin. By flying above the cloud layer, we can thus remain undetected and perform stealthier pickups and dropoffs."

Hans lowers his pistol, grinning at the Hauldr at the little prank they'd just pulled, before moving to read over the Captain's shoulder.

"Hmm, granted, but what would keep the 'good air' aboard the ship? It could just leave through the portholes and doorways. I'm can't be the only one who notices how the air seems to get sucked out when we open up the ship higher up, and she's not exactly air-tight, is she?"

He reads more of the page, running through his knowledge as an engineer to try and counter the problem.
