Hans notes the Elf's lack of movement and decides that whatever they have in the bag is probably more than whatever they'll get out of the conversation between the fools below.

He mimes a strike to the back of the head to Hilde, then nods toward their unaware quarry. She nods in understanding.

They slip off the roof together, landing silently, knees bent. Both tap the two in front of them on the shoulder, and as they turn, send fists flying in sync into their unsuspecting faces.

As the two grab their faces, Hilde sweeps hers, his head cracking against the cobble as consciousness leaves him. Hans knees his in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him and sending him to his knees. The next strike is a deft kick to the side of his head, which elicits a similar crack from the man's neck as his head snaps in the opposite direction. Their opponents unconscious, Hans starts walking toward Divah.

After the scene unfolded in front of him, Divah felt suitably cheated out of his fun, and kept his frown internal as a much better thought crossed his mind, the scroll he had would have to serve another purpose, no-one else had seen these for a while, and the art of magical inks were largely lost to the world.

Hilde wastes no time, and drags the two thugs to the cellar hatch, and once re-opened, slides them down it. The less mess they left lying around, the less notice people would take. Closing the hatch behind them, she prepares for them to attempt to leave again, this time with a third for company.

Hans notes the ink on the scroll as it flies through the air, and his eyes widen. He's seen that before, but he didn't think the research had advanced this far...

He just flat out dives in a random direction, rolling out of the way. The Elf was nuts at the best of times, but throwing Magically Inked scrolls at him was just plain rude. Syuzie would've taken issue. He resolves to ask her to give him a scolding on proper greeting etiquette as he throws his hands over his head in preparation for whatever was going to come out of that scroll.

hitting the floor with no target, the scroll just rolls along the floor, untouched and seemingly completely empty of all energy, Divah waited expectantly for Hans to look at the scroll, concealing his amusement, though just barely.

"Well, there's being afraid of books, and there's this..."

Divah had a pouch full of scrolls to use in reserve, but something told him the firework routine wasn't a clever idea until after they cleared a good few miles from the site of two bodies that were flung in a random cellar.

Hilde looks at the two of them curiously, and then retrieves the scroll gently, checking the paper was still tightly wrapped to prevent creasing. She hands it smoothly back to the Elf. "We should be...elsewhere. Now."

Hans eyes the scroll as it's passed between them

"Well that was a rude greeting. We'd best be going. I'd rather not leave the city, we have friends at the Speaker Temple. Join us for a briefing?"

He starts walking in that direction anyway, deciding movement was better than stagnation

"Eh, why not? Race there?"

Divah took out a scroll alongside the one he caught from Hilde and wrapped both over his boots as he spoke, he lined himself up with where he remembered the small cottage of a temple he visited and gave a gleaming look to Hans, with a small challenge of a wink.

"I'll meet you there."
The Speaker Temple seemed as good a place as any- though she'd rather have had somewhere a little more out of the way, the girl was there should they need her- or she need them. Besides, from what Hans had said, the clerics had already proved themselves useful. Hilde began to make her own way, leaving and taking a slightly more roundabout route, so as not to all travel together.

"Right then... I just pull this here and the-"

Divah knelt down a little and tugged a little on an invisible strand of wire wrapped around a finger, shredding the scroll paper beneath his feet and sending magical energy with blasting force straight to the ground, the only way for it to be reflected was right back up, and that meant a sparkly elf was catapulted over a few houses before the thatching of his target broke his fall... or some of it.

Finding himself rather firmly seated on the top floor of the Wise One's temple he brushed himself off and without a word dusted himself off to go ask for directions to this other place he was supposed to be racing Hans and his friend to.

Hans simply shakes his head at the Elf's shameless use of very, very secret magic and sets off at a sprint, ducking through hidden alleys and passages learned from the Urchins in his orphan days, making a very fast pace toward the Temple.

Besides, he'd been gone from there too long anyway, and if the Valkur were going to try further recompense it would most likely be at night.

Hilde started in surprise as Divah flew overhead. She watched his arc fall, and could see Hans heading off at some pace. She'd catch up with them soon enough.

"Wind Speaker Temple?"

Divah found that his landing had unsettled the dust coating on some of the books, leaving a fine film of grey settling quickly onto the contents of the room below his landing, the robed figure he met before shook its head and simply pointed off in a direction and exhaled in a manner that let the words flow and almost form themselves in the air around him with perfect clarity but near silence.

"North-East-East, angle 40 degrees - from the entra-"

Divah spent no time on being pleasant when there was a race to win, he'd already strapped more test scrolls, this time doubled up, to his feet and blasted himself off in the general direction of where the temple *probably* was, a small fracture in the thatching of his victim's roof letting a glimmer of moonlight shine through onto the wooden floor.

Having reached his destination, Hans strides out of the shadows of the alley and knocks on the door of the Temple lightly but loud enough to be heard. When the eye panel slides, back, his eyes meet Rykan's and they exchange a nod as the Cleric opens the door. Hans checks that he wasn't followed before walking into the Temple with the Cleric, whispering to the man that he had allies coming along, and requesting an area from which to plan a counter-attack.

"We'll need somewhere fairly quiet. Oh, and is Gwen sleeping well?"

"Ah, good evening. I admit, I wasn't expecting you back so soon." Rykan listens to Hans' request. "Of course, my study should be suitable?"

Hilde kept her eyes open, and sure enough caught a glimpse of the elf shooting off again. She resolved to head in his general direction, which fortunately seemed to be the right one. These Seekers were a strange lot.

The door to the temple closed seconds before Divah came down from the sky, straight through a window in the neighbouring cloakroom with a thunderous crash that practically turned the glass back into sand, even the rather comforting padding of the rooms fur cloaks didn't do much to stop the pain of the collision at those speeds, his last second of consciousness let him proudly position a piece of paper he had been working on mid-flight.

Unconscious with a cheeky smile on his face, the small note was written without much regard at all for neatness or pleasant scripture, but was still somewhat legible, quite an accomplishment for flight.

At the crash, Hans' hands are immediately on his guns, but as the cloakroom door opens itself under the weight of the cloaks, he notes the neon green cape.

He doesn't bother controlling his language as he strides over to the unconscious Elf.

"Stupid tree-humping ingrate, why does he always have to make the flashy fucking entrance, it's not hard to be fucking quiet, daft twig-shagging-"

He reads the note as he grabs the Elf and starts picking him up, motioning Rykan for help. Having finished the note, he rolls his eyes and gives the Elf a punch in the ribs for good measure. He also removes his satchel of scrolls and any others he can see on his person, clearly no longer trusting him with them.

"Using ancient magic to jump around in the middle of the night crashing into peaceful places. If he's woken Gwen I swear to the Speaker..."

He trails off into grumblings as he carts the stupid lunatic away.

Rykan is bewildered by the whole scene, and cringes at the engineer's language. He moves closer to assist as requested, and raises a disapproving eyebrow at the punch, but says nothing. The Elf doesn't seem to be seriously injured, so they'll move him to the study before he sets about healing him. Hans begins to drag him off, leaving Rykan staring at the broken window. He's just considering how best to deal with it when he's startled by a gentle knock at the door.

Hesitantly, concerned with what more madness this day may bring, he peeks out cautiously- and is met by the stern gaze of the engineer's ranger companion. Opening the door he lets her inside quickly.

Hilde had inspected the damage from outside before approaching the door. She hoped that someone was a mage...a mending spell would be a lot quicker than fixing it by hand, and with the possible Valkur threat, she'd much rather have walls and windows solid and whole. A cleric opened the door, and she recognises him from the morning.
"Rykan?" she asks, with limited surety. He nods, and moves aside. Looking at the hole from the inside, she can see there are some wooden shutters to either side of the stone window frame, that clearly aren't used much. The ranger closes the shutters, they are stiff and close with a quiet groan of wood and metal. He seems at least slightly grateful. "This way..." he waves forward, and walks in the direction Hans had been dragging the Elf.

Having dumped the unconscious form of the idiot into the study, Hans makes an about turn, pulling his gun from his holster and encanting. He brushes past Hilde and Rykan, who turn to watch as he takes aim at the window and fires, the crack not being nearly as loud at the shattering window. The bullet spins into the centre of the once-window, and tendrils of green magic spread outward, picking up the pieces and putting them back together, sealing them with a flash of brighter green. Once it's fixed, the bullet's aura fades and it drops to the ground, a metal ball once more.

He doesn't bother recovering it as he strides back toward the study, still cursing, just quieter this time.

Rykan watches in wonder- and relief. He relaxes slightly once the window is repaired. Hilde gives him a shrug and a sympathetic glance, and he nods in reply. "I'll leave you in peace." He says, excusing himself. She didn't blame him. Not for the first time since meeting the Guild, she wondered what she was doing, and if it was the right path. She follows Hans on his way down the hallway, and finds the study waiting for them, complete with collapsed Divah.

Hans sits in a particularly comfortable chair, mutters something about it having been a long night, and, after throwing the documents down on the table, spreads them out and starts reading.

"You should get some shut-eye. I'll read all this and share it with the pair of you in the morning. No point in doing it now to just repeat it to our colleagues in the morning"

The wording of that statement suggests that it was meant for both Divah and Hilde. He then throws a blanket over Divah's face and hides the scrolls. He'll pick them up later. Right now wasn't the time to let the crazy elf 'wake up' and decide to 'experiment' some more.

Hilde nods. Though she has many questions, and they have much to discuss, it can wait until morning. "Makes sense." She notes the bench to one side of the room, and adjusts the sheepskins already there. She removes her cloak, armour and sword belt. Placing the latter two down gently at the side of the bench, within reach should they be needed, she lays down and pulls her cloak over her, facing into the room. Hans sits at the desk, the scattered papers laid out before him. "Do try to get some sleep. You may wake me for watch if you wish."

He shakes his head.

"I'll sleep when I'm dead. I rested enough earlier, and I'll rest again when I'm finished. You should sleep."

He flips through the documents, muttering things to himself, even some quotes to keep his mind awake.

"The time is out of joint, o' cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right..."

That one is spoken in a barely audible whisper, and his mutterings grow ever fainter until only he can hear them as he works.

It begins to rain lightly, but slowly it grows worse as the heavens open, and lightning flashes across the darkened sky. On one of the back roads, a young urchin is running home, when a rough hand grabs him and pulls him into a darkened side alley. It smells badly, although that is probably just the sewage entry gate a few metres away.

"P-p-pleae mister! I don't have anyfing worth stealin'! I swears it!"

A hoarse whisper comes from under the hood of the man. He appears very well-dressed, and his face and hands are cast in shadow.

"Tell me, boy. Where is Hans Yksin?"

The young child trembles.

"Please sir, I don-"

"WHERE IS HE?"

The man grabs the child's clothing, hoisting him off the ground.

"Mister, I don't know who you're finking of!"

"Hans Yksin! The Seeker with the two guns! Where. Is. He?"

"I heard some of the uvver boys saying dey saw him goin' into the Wind Speaker temple! Please, that's all I know!"

Looking at the man, the boy can see that his hands are bandaged. Where there are loose patches, there is grey, dead flesh exposed beneath.

"Wha- what are you?"

The man drops the child and sprints down into the blackness of the alleyway.

- - -

There comes a heavy knocking at the door to the church, as if someone were pounding on the door from outside.

Hans, hearing the loud knocking, curses and stalks into the corridor, vanishing from shadow.

He was seriously pissed at the amount of noise being made tonight. he'd apologise to the Monks in the morning. Formally. Probably buy them some more supplies as a gift after this was all over...

He enters the hall leading to the massive door, and strides up to it, unholstering a gun and sliding back the eye-hole to get a shot at the loud knocker, eying up the black and shadow-clad figure..
